Working the fire to keep the wax melted
Johnson Hall was the home of Sir William Johnson before the revolutionary war. This house was taken over during the war in search of Sir William Johnson's son. The young lt who was in charge of the raid that took over the house made sure that the raiders didn't burn the house down like they wanted to. He not only respected Sir William Johnson but also knew that the indians respected Johnson and that the indians would start fighting for Johnson. So the young lt left the house standing and it is because of him that the house is still around today.
Even though the house is still standing there are parts that are damaged, such as this railing that the raiders "chopped" up after a night of raiding and drinking
Child's bedroom. Walker, cradle, and feather bed.
Johnson's Bedroom, he was rumored to have died here.
The fireplace and chair in his room
Old Fort Johnson, bedroom, dresses for women.
Awesome marks in the beams in the attic. They were put together on the ground, marked with roman numerals then carried upstairs and put together again.
All in all these field trips were pretty cool.
Today (monday) we went to the Scoherie County Youth Conference. All of the 7th graders in the county are welcome to come and learn about different hobbies that the students might one day want to get involved in. We went to a few of the stations but there were more that we didn't get to. Some of these hobbies included: Wood Burning, Wildlife and Nature, Dog Training, Wildlife photography, backpacking, caving, fishing, and a few others. A few that we didn't go to were: the fire department, birds, martial arts, race cars and a few others. It was a pretty cool day. I'm kinda glad that it's all over. I'm gonna try and get a few pictures from Mr. B. of the events of the day.
This week, two days of review, a test, and a new unit. woot...
